Hydrotherapy/ Thalassotherapy

Discover the power of water , both fresh and from the sea, and the important roll it plays in the body’s healing process. Discussion includes the principles and the practice of hydrotherapy in achieving a state of health, vitality and well-being in the body and the mind. Thalassotherapy is the use of seawater as a form of therapy, based on the therapeutic use of seawater, sea products, and shore climate. A variety of techniques and natures products will be presented that can be used in a spa or a less formal setting. Class consists of lecture and instruction protocols for hands-on practical techniques, including cryotherapy, contrast baths and fomentation and applications of algae and salts from the ocean. Ancient Ayurvedic Massage

“Ayurvedic”, a Sanscrit word meaning “Science of Life”, was developed over 5000 years ago in India, and considered to be the “Mother of all Healing”. This course addresses the overview of Ayurvedic healing concepts as well as hands-on instruction of Ayurvedic massage techniques : The Abhyanga, Vishesh and Udvartana, as well as other Ayurvedic therapies : the Shirodhara, Marma Point work and Indian Head Massage. Instruction includes understanding of the Ayurvedic Doshas, or individual constitutions, as well as well as balancing the Chakra energy system of the body. Board Approved CEUs: 60 hours for complete live course, 16 hours for each individual massage course, 16 hours for combined Shirodhara, Marma Points and Indian Head Massage

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Bodywork Temple Style

Lomi Ke’Ala Hoku is an ancient Hawaiian concept of working with the Mana or life force of the individual. It means “journey that carries you home”, referring to the profound physical and spiritual healing effects of this modality. The idea is to calm the mind in order to heal the body, and to come to a total acceptance of who you are and where you are in your life right now. This style was developed in ancient temples thousands of years ago in old Polynesia, originally inspired and practiced by the Kahunas in the royal temples of ancient Hawaii where Lomi was used to sooth and heal the Hawaiian royalty. It also served as a powerful rite of passage ceremony for important transitions in life. This course includes concepts of Hawaiian healing and a traditional full-body Hawaiian massage. Board Approved CEUs for 16, 30, 50 and 70 hour live massage course lengths.
